Baby Stroller Restoration Finishing Touches
We are nearly done with all the work to bring the 60-year-old baby buggy back to life! In the last update, we showed the process for putting the new tires onto the old rims.
This weekend, we cleaned some of the bassinet interiors, purchased a mattress sheet, and cleaned the handlebar. Cleaning the bassinet is still a work in progress as the fabric is delicate and irreplaceable. So far, we’ve been focusing on the vinyl parts and using gentle/natural cleaners. We found a sheet that appears to be a little tight so we will hopefully be able to loosen up the elastic so it fits comfortably.
The last thing we spent time on was the handlebar. Over the years the creme-white vinyl grip had turned a yellowish-brown and was dirty. To clean this, we used a combo of Dawn, 409, and a magic eraser. It didn’t get the handlebar bright white but it looks much better.
The clock is running to check the final boxes. We are hoping to have the stroller ready by the baby shower next weekend. After that only a month before the baby arrives and we will see how good of a job we did putting it back together!
